Our Roots

WellFound was founded by Deacon Carpenter, a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, yoga instructor, author and wellness educator whose work is rooted in a guiding philosophy drawn from Ayurveda: when we care for the roots of our health, we can enjoy a healthy and balanced life. This perspective shapes the experiences we create—helping people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and return to the foundations of wellbeing.

Deacon studied Ayurveda at Maharishi International University, where he also helped develop the Undergraduate and Graduate Ayurveda Wellness Counselor programs. During this time, he worked alongside physicians and educators including Dr. Stuart Rothenberg and Dr. Nancy Lonsdorf, helping introduce Western doctors, nurses, and integrative practitioners to Ayurvedic diagnostic principles and lifestyle-based approaches to health. A long-time practitioner of meditation since his early teens, this foundation continues to inform the thoughtful, balanced approach he brings to his work today.

In 2013, Deacon founded WellSonoma, an integrated wellness clinic offering yoga and pilates alongside Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese, naturopathic, and Western medical practices, as well as massage therapy and advanced yoga teacher training. This multidisciplinary environment helped shape the philosophy behind WellFound—bringing together movement, mindfulness, and nature in ways that are welcoming, accessible, and professionally guided.
